1. Garbage
A BFI bin has been provided at the back door for our use. It has a lock because of a past history of gathering alien & foreign objects. Every office is to have one key. Please use it for only non-recyclable items. Garbage pick up is once a month.
2. Recycling
There is one tall black recycling bin on the main floor of 1221 at the base of the green stairs. All and any recyclables should be placed here weekly. They do not need to be sorted. Please donate any containers returnable for a refund to Paradigm Wellness to help support some of their community projects. The recycling is picked up biweekly on Thursdays.
3. Coffee Fund
There is no organized coffee fund. There are cups and coffee and tea pots on each floor for our use.
4. Kitchens
A dishwasher is located in the coffee bar on the main floor of 1221. Please use it to put your dirty cups in and turn it on when it is full. Also please remember to collect and put away your cups when they are clean. There are to be no dirty dishes left in any sink. The cleaning personnel will not do our dishes for us. Please keep the kitchen sink clean and look in the fridge once in a while to see if your ham sandwich from November needs a hair cut. There is a deep mop sink in the basement of 1221 under the front entrance to clean really messy and stinky stuff in like mops, paint brushes etc.
5. Lights
Please help us conserve energy and turn off all unnecessary lights, like in the kitchen upstairs, all the bathrooms and in the basement or other areas when not in use. Please also turn off all lights except the ones at the front doors if you are the last one to leave the building.
6. Thermostats
Should you find your areas to be too hot or too cold, please report it to the building manager. We will try to balance the ducting for your office's preferred temperature first then, out of courtesy for others, survey the other businesses on the same floor before we change the settings. Karen and the building manager have keys to the thermostat covers.
7. Mail
Those in 1221 and at the back of the West Wing in 1215, please pick up your mail at the front desk at 1221. The mail arrives everyday about 10:00 am.
8. Telephone, Fax & Internet Connections
Any changes to the telephone or internet connections in either 1221 or at the back of 1215 must be approved by the building manager prior to installation. If you order a new telephone or fax line, Telus will bring the new line into the phone room in the basement of 1215 only but not up to your offices. Let us know in advance and we will make arrangements for someone who knows the buildings wiring to come in and connect the phone line up the rest of the way to your offices. The telephone room in the basement of 1215 is always locked; access from Karen or the building manager is available. No unauthorized access to this room is permitted. We want to protect the equipment in the phone room and the basement from unauthorized changes and/or additions to the phone and network panels. Lastly, if you plan to add any equipment to the computer network other than a computer, please let us know before you hook it in. Any new routers or switches that are connected into the network have the potential to disrupt internet access for the entire building, as has been the case in the past. Please contact the building manager to arrange for any changes, or with any questions.
9. Parking
Please do not park in front of the deck on the paved area or block it in any way. The Handibus drops off clients for Paradigm Wellness and other business. This area is also needed for deliveries and is required to be left open so as not to block people parked two cars deep on the gravel pad.
10. Basement Storage
All storage of items in the basement must be pre-approved by Karen or the building manager before it is moved down stairs, so that an appropriate area is assigned. Please label all boxes and other items that are stored with your company name so that they never get mixed up with other people's boxes. Should these items have to be moved, it is requested that you please give us a hand. An unlocked open space of approximately 60” x 36” will be available for files and boxes to each company at no charge at the discretion of the building owners. Any storage space required beyond this area will be charge for after May 30, 2005. Locked and private storage area is excluded from the free storage area offered above.
11. Security
The front and rear doors are to be locked weekdays after 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 am in the morning. Please lock the doors automatically every night that you leave after that time and please leave the doors locked if you come in the morning before 8:00 am. Weekends the doors are to remained locked all day. There is a lot of equipment left out in the open that can be stolen or vandalized, but of more importance is the safety of people left working alone in the building after hours when others have left. If you have clients coming for appointments or other visitors during locked hours, please install and label a wireless door bell at the exterior door that your clients use. Every one is to have their own security code as well please.
12. Photocopier Use
The photocopier on the main floor of 1221 is for the use of all tenants and will be charged at a per sheet rate. Please see the building manager to add a copier code for your private use or to change a code for you.
